Principle Services is supporting a major utility client in the brownfield installation, start‑up, and commissioning of ten (10) Siemens SGT 800 simple‑cycle gas turbines and associated balance‑of‑plant (BOP) systems. We are seeking an experienced Generation Construction Inspector to provide field oversight, ensure contractor adherence to design and standards, evaluate construction progress, and support successful commissioning of the generating units. This role extends beyond traditional inspection. The Generation Construction Inspector is expected to evaluate construction activities through a commissioning and operational readiness lens — proactively identifying installation conditions that could pass drawing compliance yet create performance, integration, or reliability challenges during energization and startup.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Construction Oversight Provide continuous field inspection of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural work associated with Siemens SGT 800 turbine installation.Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with IFC drawings, project specifications, permit requirements, applicable industry codes/standards, and safety standards.Ability to evaluate work from an Owner's Representative perspective, prioritizing long-term asset performance, reliability, and schedule protection.Inspect civil works such as turbine foundations, access roads, crane pads, structural supports, and site grading for quality and dimensional accuracy.Monitor mechanical installations including gas turbine alignment, bolting, welding, piping (fuel gas, lube oil, ammonia), and rotating equipment setup.Review electrical installations including medium/high-voltage cabling, transformers, switchgear, control systems, and grounding to ensure proper installation and safety.Witness and document key activities such as material receiving, concrete pours, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, equipment alignment, and pre-commissioning checks.Identify and report non-conformances, defects, or deviations; work with contractors and site teams to resolve issues promptly.Leverage prior testing and commissioning experience to identify installation deficiencies that could result in functional test failures, rework, or startup delays.Evaluate construction activities with consideration for commissioning sequence, energization strategy, and operational reliability.Identify latent defects, system interface conflicts, and incomplete installations prior to formal turnover or walkdowns.Proactively communicate emerging risks that may impact mechanical completion, first fire, synchronization, or performance testing milestones.Coordinate with Siemens representatives, EPC contractors, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors during critical installations and testing phases.Mentor junior inspectors on common construction issues and expectations of gas generation projects.Technical Documentation & Reporting Maintain daily inspection logs, progress photographs, and quality observations.Review contractor work packages, ITPs, test reports, and redlines for alignment with commissioning requirements and turnover sequencing.Track, document and escalate non‑conformance reports (NCRs), punch‑list items, and corrective actions that may delay system acceptance.Provide weekly summaries to the Owner's Representative team and participate in progress meetings.Support turnover package compilation, including as-built documentation and QA/QC records for handover to operations.Partner with Siemens and contractor's commissioning teams to evaluate construction readiness prior to energization and startup.Identify installation practices that may impact turbine performance, protection schemes, emissions compliance, or long-term reliability.Support structured system walkdowns, A/B/C punch categorization, and turnover sequencing, and milestone validation (mechanical completion, first fire, synchronization, performance testing).Ensure construction quality aligns with commissioning and operational performance objectives — not solely drawing compliance.Observe functional testing, walk‑downs, loop checks, equipment energization, and run‑in procedures to verify installation integrity.Validate readiness for key milestones including mechanical completion, first fire, synchronization, and performance testing.Ensure turnover documentation from contractors meets owner and commissioning requirements.Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce strict adherence to site safety protocols and utility safety standards.Identify unsafe conditions or practices and coordinate with contractor and safety teams for resolution.Ensure environmental compliance, including emissions controls, waste management, and protected equipment handling.QUALIFICATIONS: Required 10+ years of experience in power generation construction , preferably with simple‑cycle or combined‑cycle gas turbine projects.Experience participating in system turnover, pre-functional testing, or integrated startup on gas turbine generation projects.Direct field experience with Siemens SGT 800 or similar‑class gas turbines.Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and civil construction practices.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and OEM documentation.Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ASME (e.g., B31.1/B31.3 piping), AWS welding codes, NEC electrical codes, NFPA, and OSHA safety requirements.Knowledge of OSHA requirements and power‑plant safety protocols.Familiarity with power plant construction practices, including civil/structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.Experience supporting commissioning and start‑up activities.Strong communication, documentation, and issue‑tracking skills.Proficiency with MS Office, field observation tools, and digital reporting platforms.Ability to work full‑time at an active construction site.Preferred Experience identifying and resolving cross-discipline interface issues (mechanical/electrical/controls) on large-scale generation projects.Prior owner's representative / utility experience.QA/QC inspection background.Experience executing construction oversight in active brownfield generation facilities with live systems, tie‑ins, and outage sequencing constraints.Physical & Work Environment Work performed primarily in an active outdoor industrial environment.Requires walking, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.Must be able to wear required PPE and access elevated or confined spaces as needed.Ability to work up to 60 hours per week, with flexibility to work according to the construction contractor's schedule.Requirements: Ability to safely access and navigate active outdoor worksites, including uneven terrain, overhead equipment, and field environments.Ability to visually and audibly recognize worksite hazards, alarms, signals, and equipment indicators to maintain a safe working environment.Ability to use corrective or assistive devices (e.g., prescription lenses, hearing aids, mobility supports) as needed to meet safety requirements.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, such as when carrying safety equipment, training materials, or site inspection tools.Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks consistent with field operations, often on uneven terrain and in outdoor environments.Ability to sit for extended periods while driving, attending meetings, or completing reports and training documentation.Ability to work in a variety of weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and noise exposure, while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).Ability to travel frequently to project sites and client locations as required, including overnight stays and extended field assignments.Ability to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as company and client safety policies and procedures.Reasonable accommodations will be provided to qualified individuals to enable the performance of essential functions.Principle Services is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace. All essential job functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws.DISCLAIMERS:This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the position and general nature of the work performed.
