About the internship

W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes educational lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the Composition, Film, and Communication Editorial Teams may include the following:

  • Assisting with copy- and content editing film textbook manuscripts, as well as supplemental materials like TOCs, glossaries, indexes, etc.
  • Supporting review programs for first and revised editions of film and communication textbooks
  • Conducting and organizing market research in the composition, film, and communication markets
  • Assisting with manuscript prep for film and communication textbook titles
  • Assisting with the ebook proofing process for rhetorics, readers, handbooks, and textbooks across the composition and communication lists
  • Compiling, checking over, and posting assessment questions and media assets for Norton products such as ebooks, Testmaker, InQuizitive, and Norton Teaching Tools
  • Assisting with reviewing and formatting new posts on supplemental websites for composition textbook titles
  • And more!

  • You enjoy collaborating and working in a group to solve challenges.
  • You have a passion for learning and ideas.
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • You have a particular interest in college/textbook publishing
  • You have a particular interest in the composition, film, and/or communication academic disciplines
Internship details
  • Interns are paid $17 per hour, subject to applicable law, and work a maximum of 20 hours weekly.
  • Internship period is twelve weeks from 6/1/2026-8/21/2026
  • Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern's schedule.
  • For interns who reside within commuting distance of the office, this internship will be in-person in our Manhattan offices; those in other locations will work remotely. While we prefer an in-person intern for this role, we also welcome applications from other locations.
  • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
