AI Integration Engineer (hybrid - UT)
Direct Hire
Salary Target: $155K - $200K

Job Description

Our client is building a modern, technology-driven operating platform across a growing network of tax, accounting, and financial services firms. We are seeking a hands-on Integration Engineer (AI & Automation) to design, implement, and scale system integrations, workflow automations, and AI-enabled solutions across HoldCo and partner firms.
This is an implementation-focused role centered on connecting systems, automating cross-platform workflows, embedding AI into operational processes, and delivering measurable productivity gains. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of systems architecture, business operations, and practical execution-configuring tools, building lightweight integrations, and enabling adoption across multiple firms.
Success in this role will be measured by scalable, repeatable improvements that reduce manual effort, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive measurable ROI across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Systems Integration & Automation

  • Design and implement integrations across core systems (document management, practice management, time & billing, tax platforms, CRM, collaboration tools, and internal applications).
  • Build and maintain lightweight integrations using APIs, webhooks, scripts, and automation platforms.
  • Configure automation across documents, spreadsheets, email, calendars, project tools, and line-of-business systems.
  • Develop small internal utilities, glue services, and workflow orchestration solutions when out-of-the-box tools fall short.
AI Enablement & Workflow Embedding
  • Integrate AI tools and copilots into financial and accounting workflows with appropriate safeguards and review processes.
  • Design AI-assisted workflows that improve throughput, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Establish quality controls, data governance standards, and acceptable-use guidelines appropriate for professional services environments.
  • Translate AI capabilities into practical, repeatable operational improvements.
Process & Workflow Engineering
  • Map end-to-end operational workflows across firms, identifying bottlenecks, handoffs, rework, and data silos.
  • Redesign workflows through system configuration, integration, and automation.
  • Establish standardized operational patterns for document generation, client intake, reporting, and internal support functions.
  • Convert successful initiatives into repeatable playbooks for deployment across multiple firms.
Delivery & Change Management
  • Maintain a prioritized automation and integration backlog with ROI estimates and measurable success criteria.
  • Deliver improvements in short implementation cycles.
  • Drive adoption through rollout planning, training sessions, documentation, and iterative refinement.
  • Partner with firm leadership and frontline teams to ensure solutions align with compliance requirements, client commitments, and operational realities.

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years designing and implementing technology solutions that improve operational efficiency through integrations, automation, internal tools, analytics, or systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying integrations using APIs, webhooks, automation platforms, or lightweight scripting.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into business systems and workflows.
  • Familiarity with commercial AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) and embedding them into existing environments.
  • Strong ability to translate complex operational challenges into practical, system-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated judgment in prioritizing high-ROI initiatives and driving measurable impact.
  • Experience leading implementation and adoption across cross-functional teams.
Bonus/Soft Skills:
  • Background in accounting, tax, financial operations, or professional services technology.
  • Experience within multi-entity organizations (holding companies, roll-ups, or PE-backed platforms).
  • Familiarity with accounting-firm technology stacks including document management, practice management, time & billing, and tax/audit systems.
  • Proficiency with SQL, spreadsheets, APIs, and foundational security/privacy best practices.
  • Experience standardizing and scaling operational playbooks across distributed teams.
