Position Overview

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Software Engineer 3 / Senior Power BI Developer to support the SCOR EI initiative.
The selected candidate will work on enhancements and maintenance of SCOR Java applications, including updates to business logic, user interface components, and reporting capabilities. The role will also focus on extending reporting functionality through Power BI and enhancements to the system data model.
This position requires an experienced developer capable of working independently on complex tasks while collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and enhance SCOR Java applications supporting agency initiatives.
• Implement Power BI reporting solutions and extend reporting capabilities.
• Modify and improve business logic and user interface components.
• Design and implement RESTful web services using the Spring platform.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for relational databases.
• Perform unit testing using JUnit and maintain high code coverage.
• Conduct peer code reviews and maintain development documentation.
• Perform defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Support applications across multiple environments including development, testing, and production.
• Ensure adherence to security policies, coding standards, and testing procedures.
• Provide on-call support when required.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to analyze system requirements.
• Perform additional duties as required by unit operations.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have 8+ years of professional software development experience.
Mandatory Skills
• 8+ years experience with Power BI development
• 8+ years experience writing SQL for relational databases
• 8+ years experience developing RESTful web services using Spring framework
• 8+ years experience with JUnit and Unit Test development
• 4+ years experience with Angular UI Framework
• 4+ years experience with Crystal Reports
