Description

Performs supervisory duties involving progressively responsible experience with the coordination of crews engaged in the water and wastewater divisions. The employee performs related work as required.
Examples of Duties

1. Schedule, plan, direct and assist the activities of work crews engaged in the water and waste water divisions.
2. Responsible for supervising and organizing the work of and assuring the technical correctness of functions performed by other Foreman, Equipment Operators, semi-skilled and unskilled laborers within the division
3. Establish policies, methods and procedures to be followed by work crews
4. Investigates citizen complaints and takes or recommends appropriate action
5. Maintains a variety of operational records
6. Monitors equipment utilization and maintenance, recommends replacements and may participate in the preparation of specifications for and the acquisition of equipment
7. May requisition, purchase and/or maintain supplies
8. Ability to operate all equipment in water and sewer divisions, including backhoes, track hoes, bulldozer, dump trucks, frontend loaders, and flush vac equipment

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Progressive knowledge of the methods and techniques used to supervise and coordinate work crews in the work area
2. Progressive knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials used in the assigned work area
3. Extensive knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
4. Progressive knowledge and skill in operating the tools and equipment used in the assigned area
5. Ability to train, direct and supervise the work of subordinate employees
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have ability to obtain TCEQ Grade C Water Distribution License and Type II Wastewater collector license
• Must have high school diploma/GED
• Must have valid Class A CDL
• Must have valid driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier at the time of placement
• Excellent public relations skills
