**Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?**In this role, you will be focused on researching and prototyping what's next for EUC's products. Working in collaboration with our CTO, product teams, partners, and customers, you will be helping to identify, research, prototype, and evaluate future technologies and features for EUC products looking 1–3 years out.**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**In addition, the team serves the EUC product management and development teams through thought leadership and technical expertise in specialized areas like machine learning. You will also be working with our legal team to identify opportunities for patenting – the Advanced Development team has generated more than 100 issued U.S. patents to date.**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**This role requires you have a strong commitment to continuous learning, and to be capable of rapidly and independently gaining proficiency in a wide range of languages, platforms, and frameworks. You should have a strong grasp of fundamentals like networking (e.g. TCP, UDP, RESTful web services, etc.), security (e.g. SSL, TLS, public/private key cryptography), and databases. Prior experience with Python, an ML framework like Keras or PyTorch, Jupyter notebooks, and development on mobile platforms like iOS and/or Android will be helpful. Travel is generally not required.While our projects and priorities are constantly adapting, a sampling of some of our recent work includes development of a Zero Trust web application gateway, machine learning models for analysis of free-form text feedback provided by customers and collected within our products, and integration between ServiceNow and our Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) console to streamline device management.**What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?**This role reports to the leader of the Advanced Research & Development team within the End User Computing Office of the CTO. We are a small team spread across Atlanta and Bangalore with a culture that values independent thought and flexible work.**Where is this role located?**Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
