JOB SUMMARY: The Phlebotomist is the Department's primary support system and is responsible for procuring blood samples from patients, for preserving the integrity of specimens and for proper processing and preparation of all samples. Sample collection is performed on patients of all ages including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Additionally the Phlebotomist will provide computer receipt of specimens and various computer/clerical support functions such as answering telephone inquiries from other departments of the facility and assisting with outpatients.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. High School Diploma/GED preferred; college hours preferred.
2. Completion of a phlebotomy certification program preferred.
3. One year of demonstrated experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
4. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
5. Customer Focused and Team Player.
