Environmental Health & Safety Co-Op (Summer/Fall Semester - May 2026 Start)

Based in Sherman, TX, Emerson offers an Environmental Health & Safety Co-op for students interested in Safety and/or Environmental Management. Responsibilities include activities such as audits, monitoring, Job Safety Analyses, ergonomic assessments, ventilation assessments, chemical assessments, and other related projects.

As a Safety Co-op, You Will

  • Review and support updates to formal safety programs (e.g., Lockout, Fall Protection, Global Harmonization System)
  • Perform safety surveys and engage employees in their work
  • Support development and continuous improvement of safety processes
  • Assist and lead projects under the supervision of the Site ES&H Manager and Safety Specialists

For This Role, You Will Need

  • Currently enrolled student with minimum 30 hours toward a bachelor's degree or master's in Safety, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or related field
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
  • Basic understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations and other applicable environmental, safety, and project-management concepts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Enrolled in a bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or Safety Engineering (preferably junior or senior)
  • Completed coursework in construction safety
  • GPA 2.75 or higher
  • Previous related co-op/intern experience in Safety or customer service
