Overview

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist role at Emerson. Based in Sherman, Texas, this position supports safety excellence across operations—protecting people, the environment, and facilities while supporting continuous improvement and compliance. This role is part of our alternate shift team working Friday – Sunday, 6AM to 6PM.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Leading incident investigations, performing root-cause analysis, and driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Actively contributing to safety teams and leading initiatives that strengthen our safety culture.
  • Conducting ergonomic risk assessments, job safety analyses, non-routine task assessments, ES&H training programs, and implementing improvements to reduce risk.
  • Developing and recommending safety initiatives and compliance programs based on risk assessments and performance trends.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and Emerson Corporate ES&H standards.
  • Managing monthly safety and health inspections, audits, and corrective action tracking.

For This Role, You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and relevant state/federal regulations.
  • Familiarity with Industrial Hygiene practices and sampling protocols.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Two (2) years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated safety and health risks.
  • Proficiency in root-cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, Pareto analysis)
  • Project management experience and analytical problem-solving skills
  • ASP or CSP certification
