Manages day-to-day operations of the Investigations Unit. Objectives are to professionally support, assist, and facilitate the prosecution team in the successful disposition of criminal and civil cases under the jurisdiction of the District Attorney. Support activities include completing investigations; obtaining discovery from law enforcement partners; preparing trial exhibits; testifying when needed; locating and maintaining custody of evidence; obtaining local jurisdictions' offense reports that involve the victim, defendant, and witnesses; locating victims and witnesses and serving subpoenas to secure the attendance of those witnesses; interviewing witnesses and involved parties; examining crime scenes; and writing detailed reports; investigating allegations of criminal activity that are brought directly to the District Attorney's Office; and provides assistance to other local law enforcement agencies when requested.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a job classification within the POPS job family and is considered a management position. Duties require substantial degree of initiative and independent judgment necessary to take control of dynamic situations. This classification requires a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.
Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) for investigators are met; schedules training and/or testing as needed
Serves as liaison between the District or County Attorney's Office and interested and/or involved law enforcement agencies on cases assigned to specialized units. Represents the unit by attending county and community meetings.
Assists with all duties that are assigned to a District Attorney Investigator or Sr. Investigator.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice AND five (5) years of investigative and law enforcement officer experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 5-10 pounds occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard, typewriter and basic office equipment. Subject to standing, walking, reaching, grasping and handling to perform essential functions.
