Job Summary
The Facilities Plant Operator manages the Central Utility Building and all associated plant control systems, which includes chillers, boilers, compressors, vacuum pumps, backup generators, scrubbed exhaust systems, UPS equipment, water plant and electrical distribution, along with other support equipment and related distribution of utilities.
This is a multi-level position that is based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors a variety of ancillary systems including heating and cooling control, pump pressures, tank levels, lubricating systems, etc., to ensure temperature, humidity, and other processes are maintained.
- Adjusts equipment for efficient operation including burners and combustion controls.
- Responsible for plant log entries of gauges, dials, pressures, temperatures, flows, waste stream information, compliance monitoring, and other shift activities
- Observe all safety regulations, operating, and company policies and procedures.
- Complete all necessary monthly/daily/shift reports and computer work including environmental, safety, plant logs, near misses, downtime, work orders, and overall operation reports.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on various types of plant equipment, such as chillers, compressors, boilers, air handlers, pumps, and other plant equipment;
- Good communication skills with management, FAB personnel, other departments, contractors, operators and technicians. Communicates findings well to supervision and/or technicians, if needed.
- Start/stop, adjust, and otherwise control operating equipment such as compressors, VFDs, pumps, etc.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment, and systems.

Skills & Other Requirements - In-depth knowledge of Facilities infrastructure and basic critical facilities operations.
- Safe work practice and Hazard Assessment.
- Mechanical and electrical skill set as it relates to the maintenance of facilities infrastructure.
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Basic computer knowledge and skills
- Good team dynamics.
- Have a good understanding of plant principles and operations
- Must be able to interface effectively with many internal and external customers, regulatory officials, company contacts and co-workers, strong communication skills and a positive attitude are required for this position as well as the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
- Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone on nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have the flexibility to support a 24/7 hour operation
Working Conditions Operators who are working in the control room generally monitor the control console. The work requires constant attention. Workers also do rounds, checking equipment and doing other responsibilities throughout the plant. The general work environment is typical of any industrial semiconductor plant operation.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to bend, reach, twist, turn and climb normally associated with construction work.
- Will be exposed to areas where hand tools and power tools are being operated.
- Will be exposed to areas where hazardous chemicals or gases are stored.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to lift, pull, and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift
- Ability to perform activities that include climbing vertical ladders, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and crawling
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semi-conductor protocol/requirements
