Manufacturing Associate, Assembler

Description:

This Associate is responsible for performing standardized assembly of varying complexity tasks and performing quality inspections on various products either on final assembly table, or at a spot weld machine. Must be able to function in a team oriented and continuously improving environment. Must operate using principles of self-balancing flow manufacturing and meet Bobrick Gamco Division's standards of safety, product quality, productivity and policies.The Associate needs to constantly upgrade their job skills in keeping with changing technology.Associate is also responsible for working with Department Lead for all performing assignments and understanding goals and objectives, as directed by Department Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce complete products assemblies from spot welded sheet metal parts and
    other components.
  • Check in-coming and out-going material for quality and quantity. Records scrap on
    MQRS daily.
  • Able to identify quality issues utilizing the 4-grade quality system. Able to use
    fixtures and jigs to produce quality products.
  • Participate and recommend new and improved work methods, in writing, to your
    supervisor.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials
    positioned correctly and always following safe operating procedures.
  • Assist with material handling operations.
  • Able to work in a flow manufacturing cell following rules of engagement.
  • Able to operate all equipment in one flow cell.
  • Able to perform spot-weld function safely and efficiently.
  • Able to follow instructions and processes as outlined in cell in accordance with specific rules of engagement.
  • Must recognize and report problems, discrepancies, and failures in material, tooling, machinery and processes.
  • Perform a small amount of fitting, aligning, polishing and adjustment to a diversified line of sheet metal fabricated components, cabinets etc.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspection checklist for equipment.
  • Able to work independently in one flow cell.
  • Understands and applies the basic flow principles.
  • Understands the four Level Defect Grading System and continually seeks out, reports, and contributes to problem solving, to correct or prevent quality defects and errors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED or above. Minimum of 1-year related experience or one to two years of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to speak effectively to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to read simple sketches and shop drawings.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
